The Penguin Foundation and Phillip Island Nature Parks Knits for Nature program has been hugely successful for over 20 years. Generous knitters and groups from all around the world answered the call to knit jumpers for Little Penguins to save their lives in the event of oil spills. Our rehabilitation clinic is well stocked with jumpers in the unfortunate event of an oil spill, and we thank the hundreds and thousands of people who contributed their expert knitting skills to provide these life -saving garments for the colony of 40,000 Little Penguins living on Millowl (Phillip Island).

In order to continue to raise vital funds to support the Penguin Foundation, we love to receive themed jumpers which we can sell on plush penguin toys in our retail stores (these raise funds that go directly to penguin and wildlife rehabilitation and research, but are not worn on actual penguins.) Christmas colours are popular, as are football-themed jumpers and also countries of the world flag colours. They can be knitted to the same pattern (attached below). Any style that is a bit eye catching, stripey or themed would be wonderful as they are very attractive souvenirs for people visiting in-store and they raise funds for the not-for-profit Penguin Foundation. As the jumpers are not for use on animals, the strict requirement for pure wool is gone and requirements for no buttons and embellishments is no more and we invite you to have some fun! Buttons, bow ties and bling are all encouraged!
