Penguin Foundation Summerland Resilience - Be the lifeline for little penguins in need.

Your gift helps the little penguin colony thrive. While the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre provides acute, life-saving care, for little penguins, around 70% of sick and injured penguins who come into care are sadly unable to be saved.

Phillip Island Nature Parks with support from the Penguin Foundation, is focused on understanding root causes of penguin threats and long-term solutions to protect little penguins in the wild.

A cornerstone of this effort is ‘future proofing’ little penguin habitat through landscape scale habitat restoration and mitigation of risks like wildfire - especially on the Summerland Peninsula, one of the most critical breeding and nesting grounds for the species.

"Restoring native vegetation in key penguin habitats can help protect them from the effects of heatwaves by creating cooler microclimates, while also providing safe, suitable spaces for moulting, breeding, and raising chicks."

Simon Heislers, Project Coordinator, Summerland Peninsula Project
