You can help bring back critically endangered bush stone-curlews

The last call of the bush stone-curlew on Phillip Island was in the 1970s and we are thrilled to reach this historical milestone of reintroducing this beautiful bird to its former home. Please help us reach our $100,000 fundraising target.

Imagine the distinctive call of the bush stone-curlew echoing across Phillip Island (Millowl) once again. Through the dedicated efforts of Phillip Island Nature Parks, Odonata Foundation and The Australian National University and with the support of the Penguin Foundation, we reached a historical milestone with the first groups of birds released onto fox-free Phillip Island in August.

Researchers are monitoring the bush stone-curlews in the wild using GPS trackers on miniature backpacks. We are overjoyed to share the birds are doing well in their new home!

To ensure these beautiful birds can establish a lasting presence on Phillip Island, we need your help. We are aiming to raise $100,000 for the second release of bush stone-curlews onto this unique island haven for threatened species. It will take time to establish a population with challenges and triumphs expected along the way. With your help, we can create a brighter future for these incredible birds and ensure their calls are heard once more.
